Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Engineering Manager to lead our interdisciplinary team in the design, development, and innovation of cutting-edge medical devices. In this pivotal role, you will oversee engineering projects from conception to commercialization, ensuring compliance with industry regulations while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers and technical staff in the development of medical devices, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Architect and implement engineering strategies to optimize product design and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and clinical operations, to ensure successful product launches.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including risk management and design controls, to meet FDA and ISO standards.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent within the team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and the application of engineering principles.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in medical device engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices, including ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in the medical device industry, including connected devices and software as a medical device (SaMD).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for product design.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes relevant to medical devices.
