Role Overview
We are in search of a highly skilled Master Machinist to join our engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive knowledge and expertise in machining processes to oversee the production of precision components, ensuring the highest quality standards are met while driving efficiency and innovation within our manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the setup, operation, and optimization of CNC and manual machining equipment for complex parts production.
- Develop and refine machining processes, including cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Collaborate with design engineers to provide input on manufacturability and to ensure designs are conducive to efficient machining.
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished products using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Mentor and train junior machinists, sharing best practices and technical knowledge to foster skill development across the team.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and optimize workflow.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in machining with a proven track record in a leadership role.
- Expertise in operating and programming CNC machines (lathe, mill) and proficiency in manual machining processes.
- Strong knowledge of materials, tooling, and machining techniques, particularly in high-precision environments.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
Preferred:
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming CNC machines.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing and automation.
- Certification in machining or related fields is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of machining processes and tooling.
- Proficient in using precision measurement instruments and quality control methodologies.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems for efficient machining operations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement techniques.
