Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. In this fully remote position, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys with various tasks, including document preparation, case management, and client communication, ensuring that our legal operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and contracts
- Manage case files and maintain organized records to facilitate easy access to information
- Conduct legal research to support case strategies and provide insights into relevant laws and regulations
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather necessary information and updates
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions, ensuring all participants are informed and prepared
- Prepare and file documents with the court and other relevant agencies, adhering to strict deadlines
- Help maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive legal information
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in paralegal studies or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Experience with case management software and document management systems
- Familiarity with litigation processes and court rules
- Knowledge of contract law and corporate governance
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Experience with e-filing systems and legal software applications
