Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Juvenile Corrections Administrator to oversee the administration and management of juvenile correctional facilities, ensuring compliance with state regulations, promoting rehabilitative practices, and enhancing the welfare of youth in our care. You will play a critical role in shaping the policies and procedures that govern juvenile corrections, while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals to foster a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee operational policies and procedures to maintain safety and security within juvenile correctional facilities
- Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring adherence to best practices in juvenile justice
- Lead and mentor facility staff, conducting performance evaluations and providing professional development opportunities
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among social workers, educators, and mental health professionals to develop individualized care plans for youth
- Conduct regular assessments of facility operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions
- Engage with community stakeholders and advocacy groups to promote transparency and foster positive relationships
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in juvenile corrections or a related area, with progressive leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of juvenile justice policies, procedures, and best practices
- Proven ability to manage complex issues and lead crisis intervention efforts
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Experience with evidence-based rehabilitation programs and trauma-informed care
- Strong understanding of community resources and support systems for youth
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data management systems related to juvenile justice
- Experience with case management software and electronic records
- Knowledge of assessment tools used in evaluating youth behaviors and needs
