Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Residence Life to lead our residential life program, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for our residents. This role will oversee the development and implementation of residential policies and programs, ensuring a safe and supportive living environment that enhances student engagement and success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive vision for residence life that aligns with the institution's mission and strategic goals.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of residence life staff, promoting professional development and a collaborative culture.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote a holistic residential experience.
- Oversee crisis management, conflict resolution, and behavioral intervention strategies within the residence communities.
- Implement assessment measures to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of residence life programs and services.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies regarding student housing and well-being.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in residence life or student affairs at a college or university.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, crisis management, and community building.
- Strong understanding of student development theory and best practices in residential education.
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership role within a diverse and inclusive campus community.
- Familiarity with assessment tools and methodologies to evaluate residence life effectiveness.
- Knowledge of legal issues related to student housing and residence life.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in student management systems and data analysis tools.
- Experience with conflict resolution and mediation software.
- Ability to leverage technology for enhancing communication and engagement among residents.
