Role Overview
We are looking for a strategic and innovative Assistant Director of University Housing to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations and management of university housing facilities, ensuring that they meet the needs of our diverse student population. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the living-learning environment of our students while fostering a sense of community within the housing system.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to university housing operations
- Oversee the management of housing assignments, occupancy planning, and student engagement initiatives
- Collaborate with academic departments and student affairs to create programming that supports student success and retention
- Manage budgets and financial operations related to housing facilities, ensuring efficient use of resources
- Conduct regular assessments of housing facilities to ensure compliance with safety, health, and accessibility standards
- Supervise and mentor housing staff, promoting professional development and a collaborative work environment
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and campus stakeholders to address housing-related concerns and enhance overall satisfaction
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in housing operations or student affairs within a higher education setting
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage complex projects effectively
- Strong understanding of student development theory and best practices in residential education
Preferred:
- Experience with budget management and financial planning in a university context
- Familiarity with housing management software and technology
- Previous experience in crisis management and conflict resolution
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in housing management systems and student information systems
- Strong analytical skills to assess housing data and trends
