Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Geodesist to lead our geospatial data initiatives and provide strategic insight into geodesy, positioning, and measurement systems. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for advancing our geodesic methodologies and technologies, ensuring accurate and precise geospatial data for various applications including surveying, mapping, and environmental monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee geospatial projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Develop and refine methodologies for geospatial data acquisition, processing, and analysis, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive integration of geodesic principles into broader engineering and scientific initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior geodesists and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in geodesy, recommending innovative solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
- Prepare and present technical reports and findings to stakeholders, clearly articulating complex concepts and data analysis results.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Geodesy, Geomatics, or a related field with a strong emphasis on geospatial science.
- 5+ years of experience in geodesy or a closely related discipline, with a proven track record of managing complex geospatial projects.
- Expertise in geodetic measurement techniques and technologies, including GNSS, LiDAR, and photogrammetry.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in geospatial data processing software and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, MATLAB, or similar).
Preferred:
- Experience with geospatial data integration and modeling.
- Familiarity with remote sensing technologies and applications.
- Published research in peer-reviewed journals related to geodesy or geospatial sciences.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep knowledge of geodesy, spatial reference systems, and geodetic networks.
- Proficiency in GIS software and data analysis tools.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or similar for data manipulation and analysis.
- Understanding of data quality assessment and control mechanisms in geospatial data.
