Role Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Genealogy Research Manager to lead our research team in uncovering rich family histories and connecting individuals to their ancestral roots. In this fully remote role, you will leverage your expertise in genealogy methodologies and technologies to drive innovative research strategies, enhance our service offerings, and provide exceptional value to our clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of genealogy researchers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and excellence
- Develop and implement comprehensive research strategies that leverage diverse sources, including archival records, DNA analysis, and online databases
- Oversee the quality and accuracy of research deliverables, ensuring that all findings are thoroughly documented and presented
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate genealogy research into broader client engagement initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of genealogy trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance our research capabilities
- Act as a primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns, providing expert guidance and support
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in genealogy research or a related field, with a proven track record of successful project management
- Strong understanding of genealogical methodologies, including document analysis, research strategies, and DNA testing
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and engagingly
Preferred:
- Experience in a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to inspire and guide a team
- Membership in professional genealogy organizations (e.g., APG, NGS) or relevant certifications
- Familiarity with genealogy software (e.g., Ancestry, FamilySearch, MyHeritage) and research databases
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in genealogical research tools and databases
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools to present research findings effectively
- Knowledge of archival research methods and digital preservation techniques
