Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems across various applications. You will leverage your expertise to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our fiber optic networks, playing a critical role in enhancing our service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain fiber optic cabling systems, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement fiber optic solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams on fiber optic technologies and best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all installations, repairs, and service modifications.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in fiber optic technology and recommend improvements to existing systems.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic principles, including splicing, termination, and testing methodologies.
- Proficient in using testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and visual fault locators.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience with network design and analysis tools.
- Familiarity with fiber optic standards and certifications (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801).
- Certifications such as Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in fiber optic cabling systems, including single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
- Proficient in fiber optic splicing and termination techniques.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
- Familiarity with telecommunications protocols and standards.
