Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Head of Exhibitions and Collections to lead our dynamic team in curating and managing innovative exhibitions that engage and inspire audiences. This role will be pivotal in shaping our collection strategy, fostering collaborations, and enhancing the overall visitor experience while ensuring the integrity and accessibility of our collections.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive exhibitions strategy that aligns with our mission and enhances our brand identity
- Oversee the management of the collections, ensuring proper documentation, care, and preservation of artifacts
- Collaborate with artists, curators, and stakeholders to create compelling exhibitions that resonate with diverse audiences
- Lead strategic planning for exhibitions, from conceptualization to installation, while managing budgets and timelines
- Foster relationships with donors, collectors, and other institutions to expand our collection and exhibition opportunities
- Engage in research and scholarship to inform exhibitions and collection development
- Supervise and mentor a team of curators and exhibition staff, promoting professional growth and creativity
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in museum or gallery management, with significant experience in exhibitions and collections
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale exhibitions and collections
- Strong knowledge of contemporary art practices and collection management standards
Preferred:
- Experience in fundraising and grant writing to support exhibitions and collection initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities and audiences
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in collection management systems and digital asset management tools
- Familiarity with exhibition design principles and practices
- Ability to conduct condition assessments and conservation strategies for artifacts
