Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant County Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will support the County Surveyor in various surveying tasks, including boundary surveys, construction staking, and topographic surveys. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate land measurements and adherence to all regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting land surveys, including property boundaries and topographic mapping
- Prepare, review, and maintain survey documents, maps, and drawings
- Utilize modern surveying equipment and technology such as GPS, total stations, and CAD software
- Collaborate with local agencies, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure compliance with regulations
- Participate in fieldwork and data collection, ensuring accuracy and quality of results
- Support in preparing reports and presentations for project stakeholders
- Mentor junior staff and interns in surveying practices and methodologies
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in surveying or related roles
- Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of surveying principles and land use regulations
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field settings
Preferred:
- Professional Surveyor (PS) license or eligibility to obtain
- Experience with GIS software and spatial analysis
- Knowledge of local land use policies and zoning regulations
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Hands-on experience with surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, levels, GPS)
- Familiarity with CAD and GIS applications for mapping and analysis
- Understanding of data collection and field measurement techniques
