Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Controls Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in developing innovative control systems that enhance our product offerings. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design and implementation of advanced control algorithms and systems, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of controls engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
- Develop and oversee the execution of control system designs, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Guide the team in troubleshooting complex control issues, applying advanced problem-solving techniques to deliver timely solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with hardware and software components, optimizing overall system performance.
- Establish and maintain best practices for controls engineering processes, documentation, and testing methodologies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging data analysis and performance metrics to enhance control system reliability and efficiency.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on controls.
- 8+ years of experience in controls engineering, including proven leadership of high-performing engineering teams.
- Expertise in control theory, system dynamics, and the application of PID, Fuzzy Logic, and Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategies.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and practices, including IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
- Proven track record of successful project management, from concept through implementation.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with advanced simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink) and embedded control systems.
- Familiarity with software development in languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep understanding of control systems design and integration.
- Proficiency in using simulation and modeling tools to validate control strategies.
- Experience with industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMI development.
