Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Commonwealth Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the prosecution of criminal cases, providing legal advice to law enforcement agencies, and ensuring justice is served effectively and ethically.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and prosecution of criminal cases, including drafting legal documents, motions, and briefs.
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law to support prosecution strategies.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to gather evidence and build strong cases.
- Represent the Commonwealth in court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to various stakeholders regarding criminal law and procedures.
- Participate in community outreach programs to educate the public about legal processes and resources.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 1-3 years of experience in criminal law or prosecution, including internships or clerkships.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex legal information.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively present legal arguments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in trial advocacy, including participation in moot court or mock trial competitions.
- Familiarity with relevant legal software and case management tools.
- Passion for public service and commitment to upholding justice and community standards.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Experience with case management software and document management systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for drafting and editing legal documents.
