Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Defense Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will contribute to providing high-quality legal representation and support to our clients in various defense cases. You will have the opportunity to develop your legal skills while working closely with experienced attorneys and gaining exposure to courtroom procedures, case management, and client interactions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and managing defense cases, including conducting legal research and drafting legal documents such as motions and briefs
- Participate in client meetings and interviews to gather information and understand case details
- Support senior attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing case files and evidence
- Attend court hearings and trials to observe proceedings and gain practical experience
- Maintain organized case files and documentation to ensure compliance with legal standards
- Collaborate with team members to develop case strategies and identify potential legal issues
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the bar association of the state where you practice
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Preferred:
- Prior internship or clerkship experience in criminal defense or litigation
- Familiarity with legal research tools and software
- Demonstrated interest in criminal law and defense practice
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Familiarity with case management software and document management systems
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures
