Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Building Inspector to lead our inspection team, ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards. This pivotal role will involve overseeing the inspection process for various construction projects, providing expert guidance, and fostering a culture of safety and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the building inspection team, ensuring thorough inspections are conducted across all projects
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans to ensure compliance with local and state building codes
- Conduct inspections of residential and commercial buildings at various stages of construction and renovation
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and communicate findings to stakeholders, including contractors, architects, and project managers
- Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency
- Provide training and mentorship to junior inspectors, fostering professional development and adherence to safety protocols
- Collaborate with local government officials, developers, and community members to address building code issues and concerns
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in building inspection or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify compliance issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement
Preferred:
- Certification as a Chief Building Official (CBO) or equivalent
- Experience with construction project management and building design principles
