Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Residential Building Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will support the inspection process for residential buildings, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations. You will gain hands-on experience in assessing construction quality, safety, and adherence to standards while working closely with seasoned inspectors.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting inspections of residential buildings at various stages of construction, renovation, and occupancy.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports, including recommendations for corrective actions.
- Communicate with contractors, builders, and homeowners to address compliance issues and provide guidance on best practices.
- Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in residential building inspection.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of building codes and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential compliance issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations.
Preferred:
- Prior experience in construction or building inspection, through internships or coursework.
- Certification as a building inspector or participation in related training programs.
- Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and safety practices.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in using inspection software and tools for documentation and reporting.
- Basic knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with relevant inspection technologies, such as drones or thermal imaging cameras.
