Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Billing Director to lead our billing operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our invoicing processes while driving innovation within the billing landscape. This senior leadership position will collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and technology teams to optimize our billing systems and processes, ultimately enhancing our customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive billing strategy that aligns with the company's financial goals and customer needs.
- Lead the billing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in billing practices and processes.
- Oversee the end-to-end billing cycle, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing while managing discrepancies effectively.
- Collaborate with IT to implement and maintain billing systems, ensuring integration with other financial systems and tools.
- Analyze billing data and provide insights to inform decision-making and process enhancements.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts related to billing software and services.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies regarding billing and invoicing.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure billing performance and drive accountability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in billing, finance, or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of billing systems, practices, and compliance regulations.
- Proven track record of process improvement and implementing best practices in billing operations.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and drive actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships across all levels of the organization.
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud-based billing solutions and ERP systems.
- Familiarity with financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in billing software (e.g., Zuora, Chargebee, or equivalent) and financial management systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies, including SQL and Excel.
- Understanding of the integration between billing systems and other financial systems (e.g., accounting software).
