Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Bacteriology Technician to join our innovative laboratory team. In this pivotal role, you will lead bacteriology testing operations, ensuring accurate diagnostics and driving quality control processes to meet our rigorous standards. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage bacteriology testing workflows, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of bacteriology technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Design and implement quality assurance protocols to validate testing methods and maintain laboratory accreditation.
- Conduct complex analyses and interpret results to provide actionable insights that inform clinical decisions.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to optimize testing methodologies and introduce innovative technologies.
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and manage inventory of reagents and supplies.
- Stay abreast of advancements in bacteriological practices and regulations, integrating new knowledge into laboratory protocols.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in bacteriology or microbiology laboratory settings, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of bacteriological techniques, laboratory safety practices, and quality control standards.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
- Experience with molecular techniques such as PCR and sequencing.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, CAP) and laboratory accreditation processes.
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement initiatives in laboratory settings.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in bacteriological testing methodologies, including culture, identification, and susceptibility testing.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, and microscopes.
- Experience with data analysis tools and laboratory management software.
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools for analyzing microbial data.
