Role Overview
We are seeking a visionary Chief Aviation Medicine Officer to lead our aviation health initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and well-being for aviation personnel. In this strategic role, you will drive innovations in aviation medicine, influence policy development, and enhance the overall health and performance of our workforce through evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive aviation medicine programs that promote health and safety for pilots, crew members, and other aviation personnel
- Lead clinical assessments and research initiatives related to aviation health, providing insights that inform operational decisions
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, and internal teams to establish best practices in aviation medicine
- Oversee the training and development of medical personnel in aviation-specific health considerations and emergency response
- Advocate for the integration of mental health resources and support systems within aviation environments
- Monitor and evaluate health data trends to proactively address emerging issues affecting aviation personnel
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- MD or DO degree with a specialization in Aviation Medicine or related field
- 10+ years of experience in aviation medicine, occupational health, or a related area
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations and guidelines governing aviation health
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical or operational setting
Preferred:
- Board Certification in Aerospace Medicine
- Experience with telemedicine practices within aviation settings
- Proven track record of conducting research and publishing findings in relevant medical journals
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in clinical assessments, health risk management, and emergency response protocols
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data analysis tools
- Experience in utilizing telehealth platforms for remote patient management
