Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Nurse Manager to lead our dedicated team of flight nurses and paramedics. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the operational, clinical, and administrative functions of our air medical transport services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained during transport.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a team of flight nurses and paramedics, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care
- Develop and implement clinical protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in air medical transport
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide training and development opportunities, and facilitate continuing education for team members
- Collaborate with medical directors and ground operations to ensure seamless communication and coordination during patient transport
- Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed
- Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- 5+ years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in critical care or emergency medicine
- Previous experience in a leadership or management role within a healthcare setting
- Strong understanding of air medical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Preferred:
- Certification in Flight Nursing (CFRN) or Critical Care Nursing (CCRN)
- Experience in air medical transport or pre-hospital care
- Advanced life support certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technology systems
- Familiarity with air ambulance operations and aviation safety protocols
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports to support quality improvement initiatives
