Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Animal Care Supervisor to lead our remote team dedicated to the welfare and rehabilitation of animals in need. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of high-quality care programs while fostering a culture of compassion and empathy within the team. You will leverage your expertise in animal care and management to ensure that all animals receive the highest standard of support and rehabilitation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the animal care team, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational protocols.
- Develop and implement comprehensive care plans for various species, tailoring approaches to meet the specific needs of individual animals.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, identifying any issues and collaborating with veterinary professionals to address them promptly.
- Conduct training sessions for staff and volunteers, emphasizing humane handling techniques and proper care practices.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, health assessments, and treatment plans, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
- Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including rescue organizations, veterinary clinics, and community partners, to enhance animal welfare initiatives.
- Participate in outreach programs to educate the public on animal care and welfare topics.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in animal care, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior, health, and welfare standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective animal care policies and procedures.
Preferred:
- Experience working with a diverse range of animal species, including domestic and exotic animals.
- Certification in animal care or welfare (e.g., CVT, LVT, or equivalent).
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a remote team.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in animal care management software and record-keeping systems.
- Familiarity with telehealth practices in veterinary care.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures related to animal care.
