Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Animal Care Manager to join our team and lead our animal welfare initiatives. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for overseeing the care, health, and well-being of animals under our organization, ensuring the highest standards of care and humane treatment. You will collaborate with various teams to implement effective animal care programs and policies while fostering a culture of compassion and respect for all living beings.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee comprehensive animal care programs that meet the physical and emotional needs of all animals.
- Supervise and mentor animal care staff, providing training and guidance on best practices in animal welfare.
- Implement and monitor health protocols, ensuring timely veterinary care, vaccinations, and nutrition plans.
- Develop relationships with external stakeholders, including veterinary clinics and animal welfare organizations, to promote best practices and collaborative efforts.
- Analyze and report on animal care metrics, using data to drive improvements in programs and policies.
- Facilitate community outreach and education programs to promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare awareness.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in animal care management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of animal behavior, health, and welfare standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a passion for animal advocacy.
Preferred:
- Experience with animal rescue or shelter operations.
- Familiarity with animal behavior assessment and training methodologies.
- Certification from a recognized animal care organization is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in animal care management software and databases.
- Experience with data analysis tools to track and report on animal welfare metrics.
- Understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
