Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this People Leader is responsible for partnering with Operations leaders across the field organization on a wide range of organizational and People related topics and programs.

Requirements:

  • Understands the general business conditions that affect Zum Field Operations (School Bus yards), while staying current on the research and trends within HR to present an informed point of view.
  • Builds trusted relationship as a business partner with Operations leadership, Regional Managers and General Managers
  • Drives/Owns People workstream for all new school districts (aka startups) to ensure effective launch and day 1 operations.
  • Helps build and drive a consistent culture across Zum field locations and with HQ
  • Develops a consistent, scalable and differentiated total rewards strategy in partnership with the HQ People Team and Operations Leaders
  • Owns efficiency and effectiveness of the national benefits strategy and relationships with insurance brokers
  • Provides hands on support and advice to Field GM’s and Safety managers for challenging employee relations matters
  • Interprets and applies understanding of corporate policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations to provide advice, guidance, or clarification.
  • Creates programming to help encourage talent mobility (within sites and between)
  • Conducts most sensitive employee investigations and advises executives, managers, and employees across the organization.
  • Partners with Legal on areas of shared ownership/partnership (Leave and Accommodations, Software assessment, development and rollout of new policies, thorny ER issues, Employee documentation/files)

Requirements:

  • At least 12+ years of experience
  • Experience in direct or adjacent industries that have hourly workers and unionized environments
  • Excited and energized to start in strategic Individual contributor capacity, but has interest and experience leading a highly leveraged HRBP team
  • Ability and excitement to regularly travel to nationwide field locations
  • Strong communicator both verbally and written
  • Spikes to the operational side of the Strategy/Operational continuum. Drives operational rigor by identifying, monitoring, and improving key people and operational metrics
  • Builds for today with an eye towards tomorrow. We need to be nimble and process light in many cases but we also need to ensure we are creating foundations that scale towards IPO readiness.
  • Pragmatic problem solver: builds solutions with clearly defined scope, deliverables, resources, and key measures of success
  • Employee centric: Collaborates with stakeholders and cross-functional partner teams to implement a customer-focused mindset in building out People technology, processes, and operational capabilities across org
The target base salary range for this role is listed in the compensation section below. Actual salary may be above or below this range based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition, this position may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. The targeted pay range for the role in US CA is $180-235k
