BIOINFORMATICS INTERN

Location: US Remote

Internship Summary:

Zoetis is seeking a motivated intern to contribute to a pipeline for single-cell RNA-seq (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics analysis, with a focus on developing downstream modules beyond differential gene expression. This role offers hands-on experience working with cutting-edge computational tools and workflows in a high-performance computing (HPC) environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in high-dimensional data analysis, strong programming skills, and an interest in building scalable bioinformatics pipelines for advanced single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data interpretation.

Internship Job Duties:

• Enhance and extend scRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics analysis pipelines, with a focus on downstream modules.
• Integrate and implement novel computational methods from recent literature (e.g., trajectory inference, cell-cell communication, gene regulatory network analysis) into scalable workflows.
• Optimize pipeline performance within a high-performance computing (HPC) environment, leveraging parallelization and GPU resources where applicable.
• Develop clear, reproducible code with thorough documentation and maintain version control using GitHub.
• Create informative visualizations to effectively communicate biological insights from single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data.

Internship Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field at a university in the United States.
• Demonstrated proficiency in R, Python, and Bash for pipeline development, with familiarity working in an HPC environment.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput ‘omics data analytics (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Familiarity with advanced and emerging methods for downstream analysis of single-cell RNA-seq/ spatial transcriptomics data analysis, demonstrating an awareness of current literature and innovative computational approaches.

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $16.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $22.00 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $32.50 per hour

If the selected candidate is a student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $36.00 per hour

Student pursuing an Associate-level degree: $17.00 per hour

Student pursuing an Undergraduate-level degree: $24.20 per hour

Student pursing a Graduate-level degree: $36.40 per hour

Student pursuing a Doctorate-level degree: $40.30 per hour
