World Central Kitchen

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2010 by Spanish American chef and restaurateur José Andrés. It was established in response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. WCK has since evolved into a significant provider of food relief in the wake of humanitarian, climate, and community crises around the world. The organization operates by mobilizing quickly when disasters strike, focusing on immediate meal preparation and distribution to affected communities, utilizing local resources, and collaborating with local chefs and restaurants.

WCK has served over 450 million meals globally, including regions affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires. Its operational model includes setting up emergency kitchens, providing food directly to survivors, and supporting local economies by sourcing ingredients from nearby suppliers.
