Technology Project Manager

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum depending on experience

Contract: Permanent, full time

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri between the hours of 08:30-18:00, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch

Work model: Fully remote

Must be able to attend client sites in Central London when required.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our technology team to help manage the delivery of market leading software products and services for our clients.

You will be working in a fast-paced organisation using Agile and PRINCE2 methodologies to deliver excellent software solutions for our demanding clients primarily in the UK Public Sector, with responsibility to ensure successful delivery of projects assigned to you. You will also manage the delivery of internal technology improvement projects, such as the migration of our ERP system.

Our technology team consists of over 50 technical staff covering Architecture, Design, Engineering, and Project and Service Management functions

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and govern complex technology projects to ensure successful execution and delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining requirements, estimating resources, and creating project schedules
  • Adopt and adapt appropriate project management methods and tools to provide effective project monitoring and control processes, change control, and risk management
  • Overall financial management, control and stewardship of the project delivery and resources used in the provision of services, ensuring compliance with all governance, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively manage dependencies, overcome obstacles, and get the best value against constraints
  • Collaborate with the technical team to understand the technical approach, challenges, and risks
  • Ensure the team collaborates, communicates, and focuses on what is most important
  • Coach team members, facilitate continuous improvement of products and processes, and apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques for the environment
  • Measure and report project performance to stakeholders and manage the expectations of key project stakeholders
  • Work with clients to develop project scope and project plans, listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders, ensuring high levels of impact and client satisfaction
  • Co-ordinate resources and collaborate with other project managers to assist them in successfully delivering the wider TSO portfolio

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management delivering software solutions, preferably for public sector or regulatory clients or in a public sector or professional services environment.
  • Experience of leading the delivery of complex software projects using Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, MS Project
  • Understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
  • Excellent communication, coaching skills, presentation, and interpersonal skills, comfortable in communicating to all levels
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance trade-offs and risks
  • Commercial awareness and financial management capability
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Change management experience
  • PRINCE2 and Agile Scrum accredited
  • A working knowledge or exposure to relevant ISO standards and best practice
