What began in 1984 as a leap of faith for two friends from Ohio, George Smith and Bill Wharton, has blossomed into one of Central Florida's most prominent general contractor and construction management firms. Their journey started in 1966 when they met while working for a construction company in Ohio. This company later opened a Florida office in 1975, bringing both George and Bill to the Sunshine State. When their employer decided to move back to Ohio, George and Bill seized the opportunity, making an offer to take over the firm's unfinished Florida projects. With a small, dedicated team, Wharton-Smith was officially incorporated on April 2, 1984. George Smith often attributes the company's enduring success to the quality and dedication of its employees, both past and present, admitting that neither he nor Bill Wharton could have envisioned the company's growth and impact.

Now, four decades since its inception, Wharton-Smith continues to uphold the foundational culture established by its founders.
