West Midlands Police

The story of West Midlands Police began on April 1, 1974, born from a significant reorganization of local government in the United Kingdom. Created to serve the newly formed metropolitan county of the West Midlands, the force was established through the amalgamation of several historic constabularies, including the Birmingham City Police, the West Midlands Constabulary, and parts of the Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and West Mercia forces. From its inception, the organization was tasked with policing one of the most diverse and densely populated regions in the country, covering major urban centers such as Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton.
