View company profile

Verana Health's journey began with a clear vision: to revolutionize patient care and accelerate clinical research by unlocking the true potential of real-world data. Founded under the name Digisight Technologies in 2008, the company later rebranded as Verana Health in 2018, marking a pivotal moment in its evolution. From its inception, Verana Health recognized the immense value hidden within the vast and often fragmented landscape of healthcare information. The company set out to build a robust ecosystem centered around high-quality, de-identified patient data, forging exclusive partnerships with leading medical societies. These collaborations, including with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Urological Association, and the American Academy of Neurology, became a cornerstone of Verana Health's strategy, providing access to an extensive network of over 20,000 healthcare providers and data from approximately 90 million de-identified patients.

At the heart of Verana Health's operations is its proprietary population health data engine, VeraQ®. This powerful engine ingests, harmonizes, and curates data from diverse sources, including over 70 electronic health record (EHR) systems. VeraQ® is designed to handle both structured and unstructured data, employing advanced techniques like artificial intelligence and machine learning, including natural language processing, to extract meaningful insights from clinician notes and other text-based information. The result is the creation of Qdata® – research-ready, disease-specific data modules that empower life sciences companies, contract research organizations (CROs), and clinicians. These curated datasets are instrumental in various stages of the drug and device lifecycle, from early clinical development and trial design to post-approval studies and commercialization. Verana Health's commitment to data quality and security is underscored by its HITRUST CSF® Certification, ensuring the safeguarding of sensitive information. Through its innovative approach to data analytics, Verana Health is dedicated to advancing medical innovations, improving the quality of care, and ultimately enhancing the quality of life for patients across multiple therapeutic areas.
