Temporary Billing Specialist

  • $20.00-$25.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
  • 15 - 20 hours/week; schedule TBD between the hours of 8 AM – 4:30 PM M-F
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • The primary functions of this position are performing work orders and capital project billing, and other duties as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor and review work orders to ensure proper funding and update funding as necessary.
  • Assess miscellaneous billing charges (i.e. custodial), through external charge entries/imports; ensure departments and external customers are billed correctly.
  • Distribute billing proofs internally and to applicable external departments, and complete corrections or funding adjustments as requested.
  • Assess the funding on all projects greater than $10,000 to ensure a Plant Fund/Project is being used in PeopleSoft Finance.
  • Assess funding on all major equipment with a per unit acquisition cost greater than $5,000 to ensure proper accounting.
  • Prepare and submit billing journal entries/imports; ensure transactions post correctly in PeopleSoft Finance and Campus Solutions; and perform reconciliations.
  • Communicate with departments that do not have sufficient budget balances; use problem solving and customer service skills to identify and assess customers’ needs, responding positively and in a helpful way.
  • Create and distribute invoices to applicable accounts receivable customers.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances in Campus Solutions; use professional and courteous communication with customers that are past due to resolve payment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of accounting, finance, or business experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • College coursework in accounting, finance, or business-related field.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
