The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Part-Time Faculty for our Information & Library Science Program. We are hiring for classes that are scheduled to start in the Spring and Summer of 2026. This is a remote position. Qualified candidates must reside and work within a state in the United States. (US Territories are not eligible.)

The ILS program Mission and our curriculum:

  • Focuses on and is community/member-centered
  • Is rich with practical, hands-on learning experiences to ground students in the important philosophies and day-to-day practices of libraries, information, and cultural agencies
  • Involves students within the university, the department, and their local communities toward active, life-long learning principles
  • Engages our students in developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enter the field of Information & Library Science as specialized information professionals prepared to work both independently and collaboratively in various settings
  • Prepares our students for pursuing higher education through graduate study and supports their continuing education at ALA-accredited master’s programs

The University of Maine Augusta Information & Library Science Program is seeking applicants for part-time faculty to teach in the following areas: Information Literacy, Library Information Technologies and Applications, Genealogical Research, Global Librarianship, and Children’s Services & Materials

Qualifications

Required:

  • ALA- accredited Masters in Library and Information Science
  • Three or more years of recent practical experience working within the discipline & subject area(s) to be taught. (Information Literacy, Library Information Technologies and Applications, Genealogical Research, Global Librarianship, Children’s Services & Materials
  • Two or more years of prior teaching experience

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated use of different approaches to teaching and learning, and assessment practices.
  • Two or more years of prior experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated skilled use of online learning technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and meaningful relationships in the online environment.
  • Additional subject area knowledge, experience, and/or certifications.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and previous college teaching experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract.
