Job Description Summary:

This Financial Analyst uses/requires a blend of functional and technical skills in order to provide support implementing, monitoring and improving strategic financial and budget initiatives, processes and reporting. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the process and maintenance of budget queries, reports, processes and data integrity.

Job Duties Outlined

  • Act as a team leader for design and enhancements to the budget system to support KUMC leadership and its end used needs including, but not limited to, more effective and efficient reporting.

  • Identify, assess, and advise on special budget, forecast and long-term strategy improvement opportunity projects.

  • Represent the Budget Department in operational activities involved in the testing and implementation of new system releases.

  • Draft communications regarding implementation of new releases or enhancements to the campus user group.

  • Assist in training of budget team and campus users and documentation of processes and desktop procedures.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, including automation of current manual processes, leveraging the system to automate analysis and identifying other current technology which may provide efficiencies.

  • Support the Central Budget Office and departments by designing and testing of budget reports.

  • Troubleshoot budget system issues, collaborating, when necessary, with the Workday Service Center staff for resolution.

  • Create Adaptive budget system users’ group internally and externally.

  • Perform reconciliations of data between financial reporting system and budget system to ensure integration pulls are accurate.

  • Stay current on new releases for Workday and Adaptive utilizing the Workday Community website and circulars.

  • Maintain budget system versions and user access and roles.

  • Execute monthly and quarterly close processes within budget system.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, IT or similar field with relevant work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Three years of related work experience.

  • Knowledge and experience of planning and budgeting systems and database applications.

  • Experience navigating operating systems and performing systems analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Implementation experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

  • Knowledge of Workday and Adaptive financial reporting and budgeting systems.

Skills

  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Windows skills.

  • Ability to derive, manage, and implement project plans.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative fashion with cross-functional teams.

  • Analytical and demonstrated problem-solving skills, both technically and functionally.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision to include working remotely and virtually.

  • Ability to identify business requirements, functional and process design, testing, training and define supporting procedures.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
