The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Interconnection Specialist within the Energy Solutions Department. This role will focus on leading our interconnection applications service offering. The individual will report directly to a Technical Manager in Energy Solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for career growth, leadership and business development.

What You'll Do

Technical Lead - 60%

  • Manages and leads all engineering activities associated with the interconnection application process.
  • Provides project oversight, including managing engineering scope according to technical contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.
  • Maintains high levels of quality and responsiveness to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with company expectations.
  • Oversees design activities of team members.
  • Internal process development (QC checklists, forms, data, dynamic models, flow charts etc.)
  • Work with technical teams to distribute project work to identified individuals.
  • Regularly meet with technical resources to ensure work stays on track and on time
  • Train technical team members.
  • Perform interconnection applications for various regions, model development and model quality tests to stay aligned with technical requirements.
  • Create intake form for clients and other external tools to standardize processes.
  • Partner with Innovation Engineering team to develop automation tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO generator interconnection process (ex. MISO DPP, SPP DISIS, CAISO, ERCOT RARF and PJM)
  • Attends system operator meetings to stay up to date on latest regional requirements and queue dates and updates internal processes and templates accordingly
  • Advise clients on interconnection application processes and queue windows
  • Work closely with Project Management team to ensure good communication with customer, adapting to changing information efficiently, and projects stay within budget and are delivered on time.

Business Development Responsibilities – 40%

  • Participates and partners with members of the Sales team to prospect new opportunities and clients.
  • Supports proposal efforts in developing and reviewing proposals by working with Proposal Development Team and Project Management group.
  • Connect, maintain and build positive client relationships.
  • Promote service offering through social media.
  • Partner with marketing to promote service offering.
  • Follow through with clients after interconnection application process to support further project development.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required from ABET accredited university or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience, with at least 1 years of experience directly related to power systems
  • Experience and in depth knowledge of North American Independent System Operators (ISO), (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience with steady-state analysis and/or dynamic analysis utilizing PSS®E is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with PSCAD, PSLF and TSAT modeling is preferred.
  • Experience with programming in Python preferred
  • Some experience with the Interconnection Application process in at least one region within the US
  • PE registration preferred
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude.
  • Strong industry knowledge
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and external clients.
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and highly responsive, internally and externally.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $102,900- $139,200
