About the Role
Our client, a storytelling and research institute focused on dismantling systemic oppression is seeking a highly skilled Character Illustrator and 2D Animator who can specifically work with cel animation to create a 2-3 minute animated music video based on a provided storyboard. The project involves bringing to life characters and visuals for a Neo-soul song titled "Burntout" in a specific artistic style. The successful candidate will be responsible for character development, animation, and the completion of the final animated video.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and design characters that align with the project's creative vision and provided storyboard.
- Execute high-quality 2D cel animation, adhering to the desired aesthetic and style.
- Animate characters, lip-syncing, and other elements to bring the music video to life.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure the animated visuals effectively complement the Neo-soul song.
- Maintain consistency in character design, animation quality, and overall visual style throughout the project.
- Incorporate feedback and make revisions as necessary to meet the project's requirements.
- Ensure timely delivery of the completed animated music video by the expected deadline of September 2024.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a 2D Animator, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in character animation and music video/film production.
- Proficiency in traditional cel animation techniques and industry-standard animation software (e.g., Toon Boom Harmony, Adobe Animate, or similar).
- Excellent drawing and illustration skills for character design and development.
- Strong understanding of animation principles, timing, and movement.
- Ability to interpret and follow provided storyboards and creative direction.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with the project team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
