We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our amazing Engineering team! You will lead and mentor a talented group of engineers, guiding them to deliver high-quality, innovative products. Your leadership will drive the team's success, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.

To help you best prepare, we’ve outlined the interview process for this role, we aim to have this process completed within 3 weeks:

  • 30 minute google meet with our People and Talent Coordinator
  • 1 hour google meet with our Head of Engineering
  • 45 minutes google meet call with a cross-functional panel

Requirements

About you:

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar role.
  • Engineering background at a mid to senior level.
  • You possess a servant-leader mindset, prioritising the needs of your team.
  • You’re able to coach and mentor a team in making informed trade-offs and understanding complexity.
  • Familiar with delivering user-focused products efficiently and effectively.
  • Skilled in guiding an engineering team to produce high-quality code.
  • Capable of inspiring and motivating a team to consistently achieve their best work.
  • Set clear expectations and basic success metrics for the engineering team.
  • You actively promote and maintain a healthy engineering culture.
  • A mentor to guide engineers in their career growth and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • People-Oriented: Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in people’s well-being and development.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience and/or interest in Web3
  • Start-up experience

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Daily Support: Assist engineers in day-to-day activities by removing obstacles, providing mentorship, and guiding them in decision-making, prioritisation, and communication.
  2. Team Environment: Maintain a positive and healthy team environment. Identify and address any signs of demotivation within the team, working towards effective solutions.
  3. Personal Growth: Foster the personal growth of team members by setting individual performance targets and regularly reviewing progress.
  4. Performance Evaluation: Conduct fair and honest performance evaluations based on the Engineering Career Progression framework. Promote team members when they are due and initiate Performance Improvement Plans (P.I.P.) when necessary.
  5. Project Delivery: Take responsibility for the planning and delivery of projects, ensuring both timelines and code quality are met.
  6. Iteration Planning: Oversee iteration planning for direct reports, ensuring efficient workflow and resource allocation.
  7. Resource Management: Assist in the allocation of resources, ensuring optimal utilisation and productivity.
  8. Metrics Maintenance: Maintain and track metrics related to direct reports to monitor progress and performance.
  9. Ceremony Facilitation: Facilitate project-related ceremonies, delegating non-critical ones to engineers when appropriate.
  10. Status Updates: Provide consistent and accurate status updates for all projects under your management.
