Principal Enterprise Architect

As a Principal Enterprise Architect at Thoughtworks, you will act as a strategic advisor to our clients' most senior leaders, helping them translate complex business needs into scalable, sustainable and innovative technology solutions. You’ll work closely with C-level stakeholders, including the CIO, to define architectural strategies that drive business transformation, enable operational excellence and unlock future capabilities.
You will lead technical transformation initiatives, influence key decision-makers, and foster high-performing teams capable of delivering impactful outcomes. Your ability to communicate architectural vision in both business and technical terms—especially in Spanish—will be essential to driving change and generating long-term value for our clients.

Job responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to C-level executives, providing strategic guidance on enterprise, data, and cloud architecture.
• Lead the definition and evolution of the architectural vision, ensuring alignment between business goals and technology solutions.
• Shape and govern reference architectures, architectural patterns, and technology roadmaps.
• Translate complex business challenges into pragmatic and future-proof technical strategies.
• Drive the design and implementation of modern architectures, including cloud-native, microservices, serverless, and event-driven ecosystems.
• Lead large-scale modernization, migration, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Cultivate and empower high-performing architectural teams, fostering continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Engage in organizational change management, influencing stakeholders to adopt new technologies, processes, and ways of working.
• Ensure security, performance, privacy, and compliance are embedded in architectural decisions from the outset.
• Advocate for architectural best practices while being hands-on when needed to support delivery teams.
• Present and communicate technical strategies and roadmaps to executive stakeholders fluently in Spanish.

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, serverless computing, and modern architectural principles.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale architectures, including API-led designs, data streaming, asynchronous communication, and event-driven patterns.
• Strong knowledge of technology stacks selection, architectural trade-offs, and evolutionary architecture practices.
• Experience with performance management, security by design, and operational excellence in complex systems.
• Skilled in defining future capability models (e.g., Wardley Mapping) to drive technology and business alignment.
• Extensive experience leading large-scale modernization and migration programs.

Professional Skills

• Fluent in Spanish, and advanced English with excellent communication and presentation skills tailored to C-level audiences.
• Ability to build strong relationships with executive stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
• Strong business acumen, capable of translating technical decisions into business value.
• Excellent leadership skills, fostering inclusive, high-performing teams.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments.
• Skilled in change management, stakeholder alignment, and fostering adoption of new technologies.
