Job Mission
The Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Manager will lead the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of
Terraformation’s M&E framework across all projects and partners. This person will drive the harmonization of indicators and monitoring systems, strengthen internal and partner M&E capacity, and ensure that data and evidence drive adaptive management, external reporting, and learning.
This is a cross-functional role that bridges Operations, Project Management, Product (Terraware), and Communications, ensuring our restoration, carbon, and livelihood outcomes are measurable, verifiable, and clearly communicated.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience)
Location: Remote; US or EMEA
Responsibilities
Framework & System Management (25%)
- Refine and implement a coherent, portfolio-wide M&E framework with consistent indicators, definitions, and templates.
- Maintain and improve standard M&E tools (e.g., M&E Plans, ToC/logframe templates) and ensure alignment with organizational adaptive management cycles.
- Work with Product and Project teams to integrate core indicators and tracking systems (e.g., IPTT) into Terraware.
Project & Partner Support (50%)
- Provide hands-on support to design and operationalize project-level M&E plans, including baselines and targets.
- Ensure project workplans, budgets, and Theories of Change align with Terraformation’s portfolio goals.
- Build partner and internal team capacity through training, coaching, and practical M&E guidance.
Monitoring, Reporting & Learning (25%)
- Guide projects on data collection, verification, and analysis to ensure accuracy and usability for decision-making.
- Feed evidence into quarterly reviews and adaptive management processes.
- Collaborate with Finance, Grants, and Communications to ensure credible M&E data supports funder reporting and impact storytelling.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years of experience designing and implementing M&E systems for complex, multi-country development or environmental programs.
- Strong expertise in results-based management (RBM) principles, including Theory of Change design, logframe development, and indicator tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to design and operationalize portfolio-wide M&E frameworks that integrate with adaptive management or organizational learning systems.
- Proven facilitation and capacity-building skills, with experience in training and supporting diverse teams and local partners.
- Strong written, analytical, communication, and collaboration abilities – able to distill technical data into actionable insights for multiple audiences.
- Familiarity with carbon projects, ecosystem restoration, or environmental MRV is highly desirable.
