Its origins trace back to 2008 with the establishment of the Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS). For over a decade, IHiS laid the critical groundwork, diligently developing and managing the IT infrastructure for Singapore's public healthcare system. It was the silent force in the background, ensuring the seamless operation of 46 public healthcare institutions, from acute hospitals to polyclinics, and supporting a vast network of over 1,400 partners. This foundational period was marked by a relentless pursuit of a cohesive, integrated approach to healthcare IT, earning the organization over 80 awards for innovations that profoundly impacted the health and wellbeing of Singaporeans.

In July 2023, a new chapter began. Recognizing the accelerated pace of technological advancement and the increasing importance of a digitally empowered healthcare ecosystem, IHiS rebranded to Synapxe. This wasn't merely a change of name but a declaration of a new, ambitious vision. The name 'Synapxe' itself, with the 'x' signifying a multiplier effect, encapsulates its mission to accelerate health innovation and achieve exponential outcomes. Today, Synapxe stands as Singapore's national HealthTech agency, the nexus connecting people, data, and systems to power a healthier nation. It plays a pivotal role in national strategic initiatives like 'Healthier SG,' a program focused on preventive care and empowering citizens to take charge of their own health. Synapxe is the driving force behind critical platforms like HealthHub, a one-stop portal for citizens to access their health records and vital information.
