What we need

System Reliability Test Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and validating Symbotic’s automated robotic systems. The automated robotics system includes Inbound and Outbound Adapter cells, Vertical Lifts, conveyors, and autonomous bots. You will become the system expert of Symbotic’s automation, including repair/replacement of all mechanical, electrical /electronic, and pneumatic sub-systems. Providing excellent service and support to Symbotic’s Commissioning, Testing, and Operations teams.

What we do

The System Test Engineer is part of the Operations organization that leads preparation and readiness efforts, tasks, and testing to ensure the successful implementation of the Symbotic system at our new customer sites. The Customer Site Deployment organization partners cross-functionally and directly with our customers to drive and execute onsite structural and systems deployments, in preparation for final acceptance of the Symbotic system.

What you’ll do

  • Perform inspections and assist with maintenance on automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic vehicles, and lifts.

  • Support troubleshooting and calibration of PLCs, robotic arms, and related system components.

  • Run basic SQL queries and utilize tools such as Jira, SharePoint, or TestRail to track issues and testing.

  • Assist with adjustments, repairs, and component replacements to maintain system performance.

  • Apply technical skills in utility work such as aligning sensors, attaching components, or light fabrication.

What you’ll need

  • Abachelors degree in engineering or related field.

  • Proffecency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, familiarity with pivot tables.

  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addresses, MAC addresses, pinging devices, and SSH.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical resources such as CAD drawings, maintenance manuals, and user guides.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-based position.

  • Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Our headquarters is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning. (Commissioning Team)

  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

  • Approximately 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
