Position Summary:

The RN – Surgical Pre-Operative Care Specialist will serve in an expanded nursing role to collaborate with surgical patients and their Care Teams, overseeing all aspects of the care continuum, ensuring delivery of well-coordinated seamless care that ensures the delivery of quality, efficient, and cost-effective health care services. This will include accessing the patient’s medical history, assess vitals, diagnostic testing, lab testing, surgical risk factors, intake questions for upcoming surgery. Based on the assessment, this position is responsible for reviewing the data, interpreting the results, determining the proper communication and ensuring that follow up was completed. This position will collaborate with the Pre-op Coordination Team to ensure that a patient is medically, emotionally and spiritually optimized well in advance of their scheduled surgery/procedure, including addressing social needs of the patient.

Schedule: This position is remote, PRN, minimum of 2 shifts/month with the expectations to come into the office for meetings and/or staff the Preop Clinic. These locations are 700 S Park St, 1821 s Stoughton Road, 752 N High Point.

Provides coordination of the activities and flow of work for the assigned clinical program.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the development, implementation and evaluation of program services and initiatives.
  • Plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates appropriate patient care.
  • Maintains program documentation and review to support regulatory and compliance regulations.
  • Assists with determining appropriate training for the staff and developing the learning program.
  • Collaborates with advanced practice providers to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Collaborates with others to assist with problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services, and systems/performance measures.
  • May participate in injury prevention initiatives and/or activities.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' registered nurse experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
