We are a remote-first startup specializing in AI-driven products and systems. As our new System Admin, you’ll play a crucial technical role—owning, maintaining, and evolving our global cloud infrastructure. You will be an essential part of a high-performing distributed team that moves quickly, experiments often, and iterates based on real-world feedback.
System Administrator Role: Core Responsibilities
- Manage and automate system deployment, configuration, and updates using industry best practices and modern tools.
- Implement, monitor, and improve security protocols, access controls, and backup/disaster recovery strategies.
- Design, maintain, and document CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, outages, incidents, and user support requests with urgency and empathy.
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure reliable integration, deployment, and operation of backend services and databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.).
- Help shape our DevOps culture, automation practices, and operational standards as we scale.
System Admin Qualifications: Skills and Experience
- 10+ years experience as a System Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or related infrastructure/operations role.
- Hands-on proficiency with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and/or Azure).
- Experience deploying, managing, and monitoring containers (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, GKE, EKS, etc.).
- Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, VPNs, and access controls.
- Comfortable with scripting, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
- Working knowledge of Linux administration, PostgreSQL, Redis, and production support operations.
- Strong troubleshooting, analysis, and communication skills.
- Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently in a remote collaborative environment.
Bonus Skills for System Administration Success
- Experience with security compliance, monitoring, and alerts in production environments.
- Knowledge of startup environments, fast-paced shipping, and using automation for rapid iteration.
- Previous exposure to AI- or algorithm-driven products and data-heavy systems.
