Job Summary

  • The Technology Junior Associate Program will allow Junior Associates the opportunity to apply their formal technology training in a professional setting while gaining additional skills, knowledge and experience

  • Will develop leadership and communication skills, professional development and continued technical training as they develop in their position

  • Will have a leader as well as a mentor to guide them as they begin their career in Technology

  • Should be eager to gain technical skills and immerse themselves in the Southwest Culture and their Southwest Airlines Team

  • This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey, New Hampshire New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming, and Puerto Rico.

  • This posting is for one JTAP position supporting the Airline Products team. Review the information below to understand what this team does.

    • Airline Products: Supports Southwest Business and Southwest Business Assistance through Salesforce. They cater to the needs of corporate customers and provide dashboards, check bookings, upcoming travel, contract limits, cost savings, and more. This team prefers Candidates to have experience with AWS, Node.js, Python, Serverless Technologies, Lambda, and S3.

Responsibilities

  • Begin to analyze, design, develop program code, test, document, and implement functionally that is technically sound and well integrated into application systems in accordance with business and customer requirements and Technology methodologies and standards

  • Understands at a general level how technology platforms/architectures are applied to systems and automated business solutions

  • Will be responsible for Junior Associate Program requirements including continued training and development and mentorship along with demands of day-to-day responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to grow technical skillset to include taking on more software development work

  • Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies

  • Demonstrate programming aptitude and ability for logical and abstract thinking

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • With assistance, will start to facilitate and complete analysis, design, and programming of viable solutions to business problems according to user specifications

  • Able to work effectively in a strong collaborative and team oriented environment

  • Able to take on multiple assignments, whether administrative or project related, while maintaining a successful level of completion in all responsible work.

  • Able to prioritize effectively.

  • Able to develop, present and effectively communicate ideas and strategies to a variety of audiences.

Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Required: Completion of a formal Technology training program that includes coursework in programming languages (Java, HTML, CSS, SQL, AWS, CI/CD, Chrome Developer Tools, Cloud), cybersecurity, IT help desk, data, web development or other related technical studies

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

Other Qualifications:
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to travel and /or attend Company and non-Company facilities and remote locations such as remote-based offices as necessary.
  • May require extended work hours per Leader's request

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive market salary from $64,900 per year to $72,100 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
