Instant Games Developer (Platforms)

SOFTGAMES is looking for an Instant Games Developer to join our platform team and elevate our games with innovative new features on instant gaming platforms, delighting tens of millions of players each month.

You'll bring our games to the next generation of instant gaming platforms like Reddit, Discord, and whatever launches next, while keeping our games running smoothly on established platforms that millions of players already enjoy. Pioneer into new territory and grow on solid foundations.

You'll own the full cycle: building, testing, and shipping features for live games. And you won't do it alone. You'll collaborate closely with producers, artists, and fellow developers to share knowledge and push our games forward.

*Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a technical assessment.

Your role:

  • Develop new Instant Games and adapt existing titles for new platforms, reaching millions of players

  • Architect solutions that let our games run across multiple platforms from a shared codebase

  • Integrate platform SDKs and navigate platform-specific requirements and certification processes

  • Maintain and optimize live games, improving performance, reducing load times and bandwidth usage

  • Write robust, maintainable code and contribute to shared libraries

  • Estimate task complexity and write technical specifications

  • Share knowledge and support fellow developers

Your profile:

  • 5 years of professional software engineering experience

  • Shipped and maintained games, preferably on multiple platforms

  • Strong knowledge of PixiJS and TypeScript

  • Proficient in optimizing and deep profiling of browser applications

  • Experience with build systems (e.g. Vite or Webpack)

  • Ability to write well-abstracted, reusable and tested code

  • Comfortable diving into legacy codebases and making them better

  • Experience with automated testing tools and CI/CD pipelines is helpful

  • You enjoy games, playing them, making them, talking about them

Nice to have:

  • Experience integrating third-party platform SDKs

  • Familiarity with cross-platform architecture patterns

  • Experience with Unity WebGL builds and/or Unity mobile projects

  • Open-minded, humble, and always curious to learn
