About the role
This is a hands-on testing role focused on ensuring release readiness across web, mobile, APIs, data/analytics workflows, and integrations. You’ll work within a distributed engineering team and take ownership of test strategy, system documentation, and test case design.
As a Manual Test Engineer, you’ll plan and execute functional, regression, exploratory, cross-browser, and mobile tests; validate data outputs including analytics and AI-generated content; manage test data; log and triage defects; verify fixes; and contribute to overall release quality. To succeed, you’ll bring persistence, strong written English for high-signal defect reports, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and product teams across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Own test strategy, test documentation, and the creation of test plans and regression suites
- Derive detailed test cases from user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria, and system architecture
- Plan and execute functional, regression, exploratory, cross-browser, and mobile testing across the Portal, APIs, mobile app, and Teams/Zoom integrations
- Test analytics-driven and data-driven features, including validation of AI/ML-generated outputs displayed in the UI
- Use SQL to perform thorough data validation across relational datasets and backend workflows
- Conduct API testing using Postman or Insomnia to verify request/response flows, payloads, and error handling
- Manage and prepare test data to support repeatable, reliable validation scenarios
- Log, triage, and track defects in Jira, reproduce issues accurately, verify fixes, and ensure closure
- Perform accessibility testing using established practices and browser/mobile developer tools
- Apply security testing heuristics (OWASP) and basic performance testing principles during assessments
- Contribute to release readiness by providing clear risk assessments, coverage status, and validation updates
- Collaborate closely with UK and offshore engineering and product teams in a hybrid Agile environment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3–6 years of professional experience in manual QA for SaaS applications, ideally in regulated or enterprise environments
- Proven ability to analyze requirements and create test cases, test plans, and regression suites from scratch—even when documentation is limited
- Hands-on experience testing web applications, mobile apps (iOS/Android), APIs, and integrations
- Strong SQL skills for backend and relational data validation
- Experience with analytics-driven features and validating data outputs in user interfaces
- Hands-on experience with API testing using Postman or Insomnia
- Working knowledge of browser and mobile developer tools for debugging and cross-platform validation
- Practical experience with accessibility testing and understanding of common accessibility standards
- Awareness of security testing heuristics (OWASP) and ability to apply them to assess system resilience
- Understanding of distributed cloud application behavior (AWS preferred)
- Experience working with customer personal data in GDPR-style environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear, high-signal defect reports
Nice to have
- Lightweight automation experience for smoke/regression tests (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, TypeScript, Python)
- Familiarity with QA tools such as TestRail, BrowserStack, Charles Proxy, Jira
- Exposure to performance or load testing fundamentals
- Experience working with regulated industries (e.g., pharma, healthcare) or ISO 27001–aligned organizations
- Understanding of high-level AI/ML concepts
