Job Description

Sibylline is looking for a professional and insightful protective intelligence and geopolitical risk analyst to join our global intelligence team as a Protective Intelligence Analyst, on a temporary 3 month contract (with potential to extend), supporting a bespoke client project within Brazil. The Analyst, based reomtely in Brazil, will involve the analysis and assessment of social media intelligence, information found on the deep and dark web, as well as sifting and assessing large volumes of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).

Though primarily in support of Sibylline’s Threat, Risk and Issue Monitoring (TRIM) capability through protective intelligence monitoring, the successful candidate will also be called upon to assist Sibylline’s AMERICAS desk, in particular, the LATAM regional team. The AMERICAS desk supplies and maintains analytical and investigatory services on geopolitical and security developments in the region. Analysts detect, analyse, and advise on adverse conditions that could affect the safety, security and operational continuity of our clients. These conditions include but are not limited to: political instability and unrest, crime, terrorism, governance risks and an awareness of cyber threats. While the role is primarily based and focused on the LATAM region, associates and analysts are often faced with tasks of a global nature that require a broad understanding of intelligence in world affairs.

​Applicants to this role require the ability to research and analyse a wide range of information and write regular high-quality analytical reports to strict deadlines, which deliver insight and value to our clients. Applicants will have experience not only assessing open sources, but monitoring social media traffic for relevant issues that could affect individuals, businesses and organisations. In addition, you will engage directly with clients to provide immediate support and consulting. Aside from written analysis, we expect our associate analysts to deliver presentations to expert audiences. Your work will help our clients to make critical decisions about security and operational challenges. ​​

Duties and Responsibilities ​

  • Plan, research, and write regular analytical reports delivering actionable insight to clients;

  • Deliver on-call threat assessments tailored to client requirements;

  • Actively monitor regional security incidents to determine potential impact, and maintain an awareness of strategic trends throughout the region in order to update a global threat assessment scoring system;

  • Provide analytical cover for other regional analysts, as required;

  • Attend industry standard events and promote Sibylline's reputation

  • Uphold Sibylline company standards, culture, and ethics within the team

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Available for a 3 month temporary contract

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;

  • Advanced knowledge of Portuguese

  • Experience in researching social media to identify potential threat and reputational issues.

  • Awareness of political, security, criminal, and governance issues in LATAM and a strong interest in security and intelligence;

  • Excellent research and analysis skills, and ability to rapidly digest, evaluate and “sift” large quantities of information

  • Analytical flair: an ability to provide rigorous, creative insight into complex situations

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment;

  • Able to work in both individual and team environments;

  • Excellent attention to detail;

  • High level competency with Word, PowerPoint and Excel;

  • Awareness to social media monitoring tools;

  • Experience of working with large datasets and producing compelling visuals to illustrate analysis

  • At least 1-2 years work experience in the intelligence sector

  • Eligible to work in Brazil

Preferred

  • Native regional insight; previous experience living or working in the region;

  • Advanced knowledge of social media monitoring tradecraft including social media monitoring tools;

  • Thorough knowledge of the security threat environment in the LATAM region

  • Masters degree in a related field, for example International Relations, Law, Politics, Security.

  • Strong professional network;

  • Experience working in intelligence, geopolitical or security-related disciplines (public or private);

  • Strong personal initiative: ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver solutions under minimal guidance;

  • Experience working with highly confidential information;

  • Confident working with large data sets

  • Other regional language skills; ideally Spanish​
