EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our CIPS accredited Procurement and Contract Management team as our new Senior Commercial Manager, based at our head office in Coventry.

The role of our Senior Commercial Manager brings together leadership and commercial skills to deliver best value solutions for Severn Trent customers, embracing innovation and building productive relationships with our supply chain partners. You’ll be accountable for delivering the Procurement and Contract Management aspects of Severn Trent’s Operations, specifically supporting our Wastewater Recycling, Clean Water Production and Bioresources business units.

You’ll be inspiring people, setting sourcing and contract strategies, running tenders, managing contracts, negotiating pricing, and leading a diverse team across range of procurement categories to ensure we put in place and manage contracts that deliver on cost, quality, and service. This covers an annual spend of c.£200m and can involve anything from treatment chemicals and pumps to logistics and maintenance services.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Inspire and develop a team of procurement and contract management professionals, providing leadership, high team engagement and guidance to deliver commercial requirements, growth, and succession plans.
  • Managing strategic supply chain relationships, leading engagement, and supplier reviews at Senior and Executive level.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, support, and training to develop a team of people to exceed the savings targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Severn Trent’s governance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and mitigate supplier and market related risks, as well as identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through latest market intelligence.
  • Ensuring effective contract management including supplier performance reviews, management of change, final accounting, commercial claims and disputes.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be considered for this role, we’re looking for an individual who combines expert technical Procurement and commercial knowledge with proven team leadership skills. Having innovative ideas, and enthusiasm to create a best-in-class team that will help deliver the Severn Trent business plan would be required.

Having exposure to senior stakeholder management and being adept in influencing at all levels of a business is essential.

It would be desirable if you are CIPS qualified, but don’t worry if you’re not – we’d still love to hear from you if you have the skills and experience outlined above.
