We're looking for a Renewable Energy Production Technician to join our busy Maintenance team, working Monday – Friday, based from Home and working across the Severn Trent Region. Not only will we give you more flexibility compared to other companies, we’ll also continuously help you develop your career by providing you with training courses and relevant qualifications to improve your skills and knowledge. This is a great opportunity for a Technician looking for a varied role, where you'll use your Mechanical/Electrical knowledge to find faults, maintain service levels, and repair Energy Generating Plant in the broad and varied Severn Trent Water Fleet. Don’t worry if you don’t have the experience or qualifications to work on them all just yet, we will support you in your training and development to get you there!

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Renewable Energy Production team have an opportunity for you to join as one of our new Renewable Energy Technician’s. Ideally we are looking for individuals with an understanding of Biogas Upgrading Plants, Reciprocating Engine driven Generators, the ability to strip and repair down to component level – with either an Electrical or Mechanical Bias for the right candidates we will provide training to upskill either way.

In either of the 2 roles, you’ll be responsible for the service and maintenance of the renewable energy fleet. Working knowledge of Jenbacher and Perkins spark ignition Engines, Air Liquide or Malmberg Biogas Upgrading Plants would be an advantage but not essential.

Additionally, you’ll be working closely with a very high performing team and working with them to stick to Severn Trent’s high health and safety standards.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include.

  • Operating, maintaining, optimising, service and fault rectification on Severn Trent renewable energy production plants, consisting of Combined Heat and Power generating sets and Biogas upgrading plants.
  • Working with both biogas and natural gas engines
  • Participation in an Out of Hours Standby Rota
  • This is a 24hr 7 days a week operation, there is an expectation that you will be available to work outside of normal working hours when required.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To succeed as our new renewable energy technician, you must have a level 3 NVQ or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.

We’re seeking someone who has the right attitude and is willing to work in varied working conditions, as well as being hard working and self-motivated.

You’ll join our high performing team so therefore you need to be able to work well as a team, however this role is not always done in a team so being able to work alone too is preferable.

To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll understand renewable energy production equipment, whilst being a truly hands on person and forward thinker with your approach. We operate in a fast-paced and dynamic setting, so you’ll need to be fluid in your approach and have the courage to hold yourself and others accountable to high quality work, delivered on-time to agreed timescales.
