As a member of our Web team this role ensures that Sedgwick’s web ecosystem remains discoverable, performant, scalable, and resilient. The Lead Web Platform Engineer translates SEO and AIO strategy into repeatable technical standards, partners closely with Web team, and Analytics stakeholders, and serves as the Web team’s primary technical counterpart to DevOps and external development partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Web Platform Architecture & Governance

  • Establishes and enforce platform standards that prioritize stability, scalability, security, and maintainability.

  • Partners with web team members to ensure themes, blocks, and UX decisions align with Sedgwick platform standards.

  • Reduces platform risk by minimizing custom one-off solutions and technical debt.

  • Serves as the technical lead and reviewer for external development partner work to ensure contributions align with Sedgwick platform standards.

Technical SEO & AIO Execution

  • Leads the technical implementation of SEO and AIO strategy across the platform, including index and crawl rules by page type, canonical behavior and exception governance, URL structure and crawl hygiene, and structured data (schema.org) implementation.

  • Translates SEO strategy into template-level and system-level controls rather than manual page edits.

  • Partners with Analytics stakeholders to respond to Core Web Vitals and SEO regressions with durable technical fixes.

Plugin & Integration Management

  • Governs all web content management system plugins and third‑party integrations by evaluating, approving, upgrading, and retiring plugins and assessing performance, security, analytics, and SEO/AIO impact.

  • Owns integrations with systems such as analytics and data layer plugins, consent management tools, marketing and form platforms, and language translation tools.

  • Partners with DevOps to prevent plugin sprawl and duplication through clear ownership and standards.

Performance, Reliability & Platform Health

  • Owns platform-level performance outcomes, including Core Web Vitals remediation and prevention, script loading and execution patterns, and platform performance guardrails.

  • Partners with Web Production and DevOps to support incident response, define rollback strategies, and improve platform observability.

  • Ensures platform changes do not degrade SEO/AIO, user experience, or analytics integrity.

CI/CD Coordination & Release Readiness

  • Coordinates with DevOps on CI/CD processes without owning infrastructure or pipelines.

  • Defines website release requirements, including SEO/AIO and Core Web Vitals impact checks, plugin and dependency validation, and rollback expectations.

  • Supports predictable, low-risk releases as platform change volume increases.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Travel as required.
