Systems & Network Administrator (Remote Western KS & NE)

As a Systems & Network Administrator, you'll be the go-to expert for on-site and remote technical support across multiple manufacturing and warehousing locations. In this hands-on role, you’ll handle hardware installations, network troubleshooting, and software support to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities include resolving issues with endpoints and infrastructure, prioritizing incidents and requests, conducting routine maintenance and updates, and managing vendor engagement. You'll also support network connectivity—including routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and VPNs—while traveling to remote sites for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

The person in this position will be located remotely in Western Kansas or Western Nebraska with 50-70% travel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer, install, configure, and maintain IT infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and network equipment (routers, switches, access points).
  • Coordinate and execute field deployments, system upgrades, hardware refreshes, and site expansions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to endpoints, connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/VPN), and business-critical applications.
  • Maintain accurate records of assets, incidents, change requests, and resolutions using an ITSM/ticketing system.
  • Collaborate with centralized IT teams (ServiceDesk, infrastructure, Security) to resolve escalated issues or participate in cross-functional projects.
  • Maintenance and reliable operation of computer systems and network-connected components.
  • Solid experience with Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and remote support tools.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  • Create documentation and technical specifications for IT staff and users to aid in troubleshooting and resolution, operations, and maintenance of computer systems and infrastructure.
  • Expected to be able to follow documented processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support and improve operations and strive to answer the calls of our customers.
  • Recommend process changes and systems solutions to meet business requirements. Maintain proper customer rapport; pass along requests and projects according to the documented intake procedure.
  • Manage vendor relationships for on-site service coordination, equipment procurement, and support escalations.
  • Support and enforce IT security protocols, compliance requirements, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to travel 50 - 70% of the time, primarily day trips to Scoular locations within the region.

About You:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent.  
  • 2+ years’ experience in management of PC, network, server, and email support.  
  • Advanced level knowledge in technologies supported: Windows Server environment; Lotus Domino/Notes Operating, mail and database environments; the firewall operating environment; telephone PBX/voicemail systems operating environment. 
  • Experience in implementing and supporting Internet access, firewall and security.  
    Demonstrated leadership of information technology projects, teams, and external resources.  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interface and team with all levels of the organization.  
  • Understanding of business functions and the impact of technical decisions on business processes. 
  • Ability to work with, communicate effectively with and influence all levels of the organization. 
  • Highly motivated and proactive.  
  • Deep skills in strategic planning (e.g. current state, future state, roadmap) and problem solving.  
  • General technical knowledge sufficient to provide general direction to install, upgrade, configure, design, develop, implement, secure, tune, monitor and maintain assigned product(s)  
  • Ability to quickly learn intricacies of different technologies, solutions and apply them to application designs
