Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Senior Commercial Property Claims Adjuster A qualified candidate will comfortably handle high severity commercial claims, including all aspects of the loss from building damage, business personal property loss, and business income loss. The candidate will be able to review all data related to the commercial loss, including highly complex commercial building estimates, business personal property inventories, and all technical accounting-related data that allows for a detailed analysis and ultimate calculation of business income losses. You’ll be able to effectively communicate and negotiate across multiple professional business parties that would include business owners, executives, business stakeholders, commercial contractors, accounting representatives, public adjusters, and attorneys. What you’d be doing:

  • Investigate and document commercial property claims, including highly complex reviews of the Commercial BOP and CPP policies as needed. Additional claim investigation would require multiple recorded statements conducted with various business owners. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of multiple parties in the investigation, assessment, estimation of all damages, preparing large commercial loss statements that support significant reserves, complex file oversight and technical negotiations to allow file completion.
  • Work closely with additional departments to include Underwriting and Product, to ensure a clear understanding of the large commercial losses as well as the analysis of the commercial policies.
  • Handle all aspects of Commercial losses, including:
    • Building damage claims, with potential loss exposures more than $2 million on large commercial structures.
    • Handle complex Business Personal Property losses, including providing assistance and support documenting business inventories.
    • With support of accounting resources, handling complex business interruption claims that require review and analysis of business reports, accounting documents, payroll reports, etc.
    • Partner with the business owners, CEO’s and other business executives in the handling and investigation of the claim. This will include demonstrating a highly technical knowledge of the Commercial BOP and CPP policies.
  • Communicate claim updates and decisions verbally and in writing to both carrier partners as well as business stakeholders with vested interest in the claim
  • Handle claims in compliance with all applicable regulations and internal processes
  • Provide technical expertise and serve as an SME for Commercial Claims-related projects
  • Support catastrophe response as needed, to include potential overtime and deployment, with a focus on catastrophe losses to businesses.
  • Any other duties needed to help drive our purpose and fulfill our values

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years of commercial property claims experience
  • Advanced Estimating skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Empathetic interpersonal skills
  • Adjuster licensed in home state or holds a non-resident license if license not required; meets requirements for licensing in additional states as needed, including NY and CA.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

  • Commercial Claims handling experience
  • Field claims experience
  • Experience in catastrophe-focused environments
  • Professional designations
